            <description><![CDATA[<p>@sachac You&#8217;re welcome.  Shadowing is an effective way to learn about practices, and we should take advantage of it, more often.  We should thank your management for appreciating an opportunity for professional development.  </p><p>Since I&#8217;m an academic at heart, my interviewing technique is foundationally solid.  It&#8217;s an <a href="http://synthesistblog.com/kathleen-eisenhardt-on-theory-building-from-case-studies-107-0/" rel="nofollow">inductive case study method</a> &#8212; the is more acceptable in European management research than in American management research.  I&#8217;ve written about <a href="http://coevolving.com/blogs/index.php/archive/envisioning-innovation-in-service-systems-induction-abduction-and-deduction/" rel="nofollow">induction, abduction and deduction</a> (as well as <a href="http://coevolving.com/commons/200907-isss-v53-ing-envisioning-service-systems" rel="nofollow">publishing an article</a> about the differences in approaches.             <description><![CDATA[<p>@sachac I didn&#8217;t see your slides &#8212; I downloaded the playback, and transcoded the movie to audio &#8212; and listened on my MP3 player.  </p><p>Presentation slides are only visual aids.  As a prolific note-taker, I focus on listening to the voice, and refer to the visual aids only secondarily if necessary.  It&#8217;s amazing how just listening reduces the mental overload. The move to multicore chips over the past 5 years -- even gaming consoles are multicore -- demonstrate the change in hardware technology. Taking advantage of multicore is, however, a software issue -- operating systems and programs need to be rewritten to take advantage of the hardware.
